The South Dakota Veterans Cemetery is the first federally funded, state-owned, and operated, veterans cemetery in South Dakota. The cemetery will serve veterans throughout the state and around the country, as there is no state residency requirement to be interred in the cemetery. This 60-acre property offers a picturesque setting in northeastern Sioux Falls, conveniently located along Interstate 90. Property for the cemetery was donated to the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs by the City of Sioux Falls. Ultimately, it will provide spaces for over 28,000 burials.

Burial sites at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery include casket gravesites, cremation gravesites, columbarium for cremated remains and scattering garden.

The South Dakota Veterans Cemetery compliments services provided by the National Cemetery Administration. The National Cemetery Administration provides support to state cemeteries in the form of grants that are used for development, expansion, and/or improvement of state veterans cemeteries.

The cemetery will serve as a hallowed resting place for all eligible veterans and family members.
