Robert V Johns
February 17, 1937 - December 27, 2019
Robert V. Johns, 82, of Canistota passed away unexpectedly at his home in Canistota on Friday, December 27, 2019. A memorial service will begin at 3 pm on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation with family present will be held one hour prior.
Robert Johns was born February 17, 1937 in Sioux City, IA to Nelson and Zelma (Alseth) Johns. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. He spent most of his life as a truck driver. On July 23, 1960 he married Colleen Cunningham in Hayward CA.
Robert was a member of Iowa Air National Guard until 1955 and went on to serve in the Unites States Air Force from 1955 to 1962. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and golf.
Robert is survived by his wife, Colleen of Salem; children, Mike (Shannon) Johns of Canistota and Kate (Dave) Miller of Mitchell; grandchildren Rebecca (Michael) Hobbs of Alaska and Aidan and Julia Miller of Mitchell; siblings Greg (Sheila) Johns of Sioux City IA and Mavis (Michael) Hall of Plattsmouth NE. He was preceded in death by his parents.
