The mission of this project is to capture digital images of gravestones, however we are not a grave registration site. As decades pass -- many stones are becoming harder, if not impossible, to read the inscriptions they originally contained. By archiving the images of both old and new stones, we can help document these important records and also assist researchers using this valuable resource.
Notice: This is a website where volunteers place photos of tombstones. We have no affiliation or contact with any cemetery. We try to help when possible, however questions about plot costs, maintenance, or formal records must be made directly with the cemetery. We do not have that information.
The photographer is the copyright holder and retains copyright. One needs his/her permission to use any photo. Under U.S. copyright law, photos taken after 1977 are covered by copyright without the need to register it, use the (c), circled c, copyright, or any other notice. Using someones photo with citation is not a substitution for needing permission.
All photos on this site are COPYRIGHTED and may NOT be used on other websites without permission of www.southdakotagravestones.org or the original photographer. And Please, photos taken from other sites cannot be accepted.
At this time we have no submissions from the counties of Corson, Harding, Potter, Stanley or Ziebach. If you have photos they would be appreciated.
