John was a beloved and respectful son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

John is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Christl; two sons, Eric (Angela) Steen and their children Avianna, Erika, and Ayden of Sioux Falls; and Jason Steen of Sioux Falls; his brother, Rueben (Mary Alice) Steen of Brookings; sister, Betty Wegner of Boise, ID; sister-in-law Donna Steen-Wallum of Brookings; and 27 nieces and nephews.
