Anderson, George Emil and Elna
George was born in Neola, Iowa in 1902 and moved with his family to a farm southeast of Dell Raids when he was five years old. He grew up and continued to live on this farm until his retirement in 1960. George married Elna Daugaard in 1926. They had two daughters, Audrey and Grace, who attended school at District #65, Dell Rapids High School and both graduated from Sioux Valley School of Nursing. George and Elna were active in community activities. Their school District #65 was the first rural school to organize a P.T.A. in S. Dak. and they gave much support to this organization. They were members of the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church until 1960, when they left the farm and moved to Sioux Falls. George and five neighbors owned a threshing machine together, and for several years worked in their neighborhood threshing run. The fun time was the yearly neighborhood get together party after the small grain harvest was finished. Many hand cranked Ice Cream makers were put to use for the ice cream treat served at this threshing neighborhood party. Elna died in 1984 in Sioux Falls, S. Dak. and George moved to Canton, S. Dak. in 1985 where he now resides.
