sther, daughter of Martin and Clara Gullickson Hetland was born on December 24, 1923 at Cottonwood, MN where she received her early education. As a young girl she moved to Flandreau where she graduated from Flandreau High School in 1941. She was employed as a secretary for OPA, NW Bell Telephone Company as an operator, the Flandreau Indian School and as a secretary for the ASCS. For the past seven years she was deputy Clerk of Courts. She was married to Harley Bennett on July 11, 1947 at Flandreau. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, Busy Bee Club, Western Bell Hobbie Club, church circle and the Winyan Omniciye Club.

She is survived by her husband Harley; one daughter, Charlene, Mrs. William Hay, Flandreau; two sisters, Jeanette Larson, Rosemead, CA and Catherine, Mrs. Boyd Bennett, Flandreau. She was preceded in death by her parents.
