George was born on October 26, 1924 at Lennox, SD, the son of Louie and Fannie (Bossman) Albers. He attended rural Lennox school and later served in the US Army during World War II. On January 28, 1949 George was united in marriage to Albertha Geiken at Ebenezer Presbyerian Church in Lennox. He was employed as a pipefitter with the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls for 28 years. He was a member of Lennox Ebenezer Presby-terian Church where he served as a trustee, and also a member of Bertus Jurgens American Legion Post #283 in Chancellor. He had also served as a school board member and a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding horse. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Tena Javers, Fannie Rust and his twin, Johanna Schutz and one brother, Frederick Albers. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Albertha; eight children and their spouses: Roberta (Terry) Rea, Sioux Falls, Gordon (Gertrude) Albers, Sioux Falls, Vickie (Kent) Plucker, Chancellor, Vhonda (Don) Miller, Centerville, Galen (Machelle) Albers, Lennox, Rona (Joel) VanEkeren, Harrisburg, Arlen (Karen) Albers, Cottleville, MO and Amy (Brian) Lamp, Kirksville, MO; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert (Melva) Albers of Sioux Falls; plus many other relatives and friends.
