Juanita Jorgensen, 90, died on Tuesday, April 17, 1990, at the Terrace Manor Nursing Home, Dell Rapids, South Dakota.

Juanita Harrington was born on June 20, 1899, in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended grade school in Avon, Minnesota, and completed high school in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She also attended Drake University, received a first class teacher's certificate and taught rural schools in Rock Rapids, in the Minnehaha and Moody County areas and then in the 6th and 7th grades of the Humbolt Consolidated School System.

She was married to George M. Jorgensen on January 6, 1923, at Sioux Falls. They farmed near Dell Rapids for four years and then opened a feed mill in Dell Rapids an operated it until their retirement in 1959.

Juanita was active and held offices in many organizations. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Baptist Women's organization and was active in the Dell Rapids Woman's Club for 50 years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had a life-time interest in all phases of horticulture and gave much of herself to the Dell Rapids Garden Club, helping to organize the South Dakota Federation of Garden Clubs in 1943. She was also a member and judge of many national floral groups.

Juanita had traveled extensively and visited all six of the continents in the world, bringing her adventures back to share with others through her photography.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1975, her son, Deane Lee, in 1986, and a sister, Florence Taylor, in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Helen Jorgensen; two grandchildren, Keith Jorgensen and Karen Nenow, all of the Kansas City area; three sisters, Bernice Capron, Neva Jensen and Doris Daugherty, and one brother, Ralph Harrington, all of Ocotillo, California.
