Christen Jorgensen b. Oct. 1, 1874 in Hjørring amt. Denmark. Christen was the son of Johanne Nielsen and Martin Jørgensen, farmhand in Aasted sogn, (Hjørring amt).

He married Anna Catherine Marie Jensen born Aug. 12, 1882 in Sindal sogn, Hjørring amt. Denmark, the daughter of Niels Abel Jensen and wife Maren Christensen in Elsighus, Østergaards Mark, Sindal. Her father was a farmer.

Christ emigrated from Hjørring in central Denmark through Liverpool in 1908 to Minden, Nebraska and had a friend waiting for him. Christ became a painter.

On Aug. 5, 1909 his wife, Anna, left Dennark and emigrated with their four children at the time.

3. Carla Johanne "Joan" Jørgensen (Jorgensen) Gross, b. jan. 25, 1907 in Store Nedergaard, Try, Torslev sogn, Hjørring amt. b. Lived in Sioux Falls, SD possibly moved to CA.

4. Gunnar Jorgensen, born mar.18, 1909 in Hjørring, Sct Catharina sogn, Aalborgvej no. 21. m. Dorotha Winnifred Rowe, dau. of Charles Henry Rowe and Grace Edna Nicholas. 2 children: Donald Keith Jorgensen and Joyce Edna Rowe aka. Alister Jones of The Dalles, OR.
5. Myrtle (Jorgensen) Wayne Aug. 22,1915-Feb. 28, 2004 Park Grove, Hennipen Co., Minnesota

Final rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church for Christ Jorgensen, 85, of 801 S. Minnesota Ave. Mr. Jorgensen died at home Friday.

The Rev. Roger Fredrikson will officiate at the rites. Interment will be in Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Mr. Jorgensen was born in Lindum, Denmark, on Oct. 1, 1874. He grew up and received his schooling there. He married Anna Jensen on Oct. 1, 1901, in Denmark. In 1909, the couple and four children moved to Upland Neb. They farmed at Tyler, Minn. In 1911 and in 1916 moved to Summit, S.D. Mr. Jorgensen retired from the farm in 1939 and moved into Sioux Falls. For the past 20 years he had been a painter. He belonged to the First Baptist Church.

Survivors are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. June Gross, Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Myrle Wayne, Clarks Grove, Minn.; two sons, E.A. Jorgensen, Los Alamito, Calif. (Formerly of Trent), and the Rev. Gunner Jorgensen, Compton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Anderson, Denmark.

Miller Funeral Home is in Charge.
