Anna Catherine Marie Jensen Jorgensen was born Aug. 12, 1882 in Sindal sogn, Hjørring amt. Denmark d. 1979 in Minnihaha County, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Niels Abel Jensen (1856-1931) and Maren Christensen (1860-1945) in Elsighus, Østergaards Mark, Sindal.
Her father was a farmer. The family was Baptist. At the time of his daughter, Carla Joan birth, Niels was a Laborer and Baker in Hjørring, Denmark.

She married 1 Oct 1901 to Christen Jorgensen born Oct. 1, 1874 in Hjørring amt. Denmark. Christen was the son of Johanne Nielsen and Martin Jørgensen, farmhand in Aasted sogn, (Hjørring amt).

Anna's husband, Christen Jorgensen, emigrated in April of 1909 Christ had a friend meet him in Minden, Nebraska and four months later, Aug. 5, 1909, Anna emigrated along with their children ( Edelbert, Arnold, Carla, and Gunner) through to Portland, Maine. Their emigration path, from Hjørring, Denmark, a town in central Denmark,was through Liverpool on a the ship Canada with four of her children. Destination was Minden, Nebraska.

Anna Catherine Marie Jensen and Christen Jorgensen's children: All of their children were born in Denmark, except Myrtle, who was born in Marshall, Minnesota. All were raised Baptist.

CA and lived in Blinsmon, Moody, SD on a farm Children: Alice Mary Jorgensen and Beth Ann (Jorgensen) deAcosta) Beth's dau. is Angie (Marquez) Havens .
Florence Jorgensen is buried in Westminster Memorial Park beside her husband.

2. Arnold Martin Jorgensen b, April 12, 1904 in Store Nedergaard, Try, Torslev sogn, Hjørring amt. Denmark. d. Sept 17, 1959 m.Sept. 25, 1929 Sioux Falls, Minnehaha Co, SD to Bessie "Betty"A. Marshall (1904-1999). Arnold's Profession: Head Cashier at John Morrell Co. Sioux Falls, SD. Both are buried in Dell Rapids Cemetery, Minnehaha Co., SD

3. Carla Johanne Jorgensen (92) renamed June Carla (Jorgensen) Gross, b. Jan. 25, 1907 in Store Nedergaard, Try, Torslev sogn, Hjørring, Denmark d. Aug. 18, 1999 Minneapolis, Hennipen Co. MN m. Sept. 25, 1930 Cuyahogo county, Ohio to Charles R. Gross, Jr. son of Charles R. Gross, Sr. and Anna Kern. June is buried Dell Rapids Cemetery, SD.

4 . Rev. Gunnar Jorgensen, b.Mar. 18, 1909 in Hjørring, Sct Catharina sogn, Aalborgvej no. 21.Denmark d. Mar. 30, 1999 Oceanside, CA. m.July 5, 1932 , Sisseton, SD Dorotha Winnifred Rowe, dau. of Charles Henry Rowe and Grace Edna Nicholas. (2 children: Donald Keith Jorgensen, Sr. (1933–2014 ) Joyce Edna Jorgensen ( 1939-2022). Profession: Church of God minister in North Dakota, Oregon and California.
Both are buried in Memory Garden Memorial Park, Brea, CA

5. Myrtle Esther (Jorgensen) Wayne b. Aug. 22,1915 Marshall, MN d. Feb. 28, 2004 in Minneapolis, MN m. In 1941 John S. Wayne b. Sept 30, 1914 Freeborn Co, MN d. Mar. 20, 20008 Owatonna, MN son of Anton J. Wayne and Minnie Frederickson. (div. later .( He remarried in 1972. John was a farmer. They had 4 children: Ruth, June, Nate and Anton .

Mrs. Anna K. Jorgensen

Anna K. Jorgensen, a native of Denmark, died Saturday morning at her home at 801 South Minnesota Ave.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, with burial in Dell Rapids.

Anna Jensen was born Aug. 12, 1882 at Sindal, Denmark. She was married to Christ Jorgensen Oct. 1, 1901.

The couple immigrated to the United States in 1909, first settling in Upland, Neb. They moved to Typer Minn., in 1911, and to Summit, S.D., five years later. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1939.

Survivors include two sons, E.A. Jorgensen, Los Alamitos, Calif., and Rev. Gunnar Jorgensen, Oceanside, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Wayne, Albert Lea., Minn., and Mrs. June Gross of Sioux Falls: eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Her husband died in 1960.

Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
