Funeral Service Wednesday For Jorgen Jorgensen

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church in Dell Rapids for Jorgen Jorgensen, who passed away at Sioux Falls on Sunday, April 14th, following a long illness. Services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Raleigh J. Gordon. Rev. G. W. Hammerlee, pastor of the Dell Rapids Methodist was soloist. Mrs. C.G. Graves, organist.

Mr. Jorgensen was born in Kaas, Jetsmark, Denmark on February 25, 1881, being 76 years, 1 month and 19 days of age at death. He came to America in 1904 and was united in marriage to Kristine Anderson in 1915.

Survivors included eight children: Lillian at home, Mrs. Gerald Halvorson (Darlene) and Mrs. Obed Hoyme (Edna) of Dell Rapids; Mrs. Bert Scoffield (Rose) Sioux Falls; Errol at home and Russell, Wendell and Kenneth of Dell Rapids. There are also fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son who died in infancy, and his wife who passed away in 1950. One brother, Ingward lives at Colman and a sister and a brother in Denmark.

Burial was in the Dell Rapids cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ed Heimbuck, Wm, Guild, Ben Marshall, R.L. Merry, Phil Hines and Orville Buskerud. Hermanson funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jorgensen was a splendid Christian man, and had many close friends during his long residence there.
