Peggy L. Jorgensen
February 19. 1948 – February 13, 2024

Peggy Jorgensen, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Sioux Falls, SD.

Peggy Lou Jorgensen was born February 19, 1948, in Willow Lake, SD, to Don and Wava (Seefeldt) Kretzschmar. She attended school in Willow Lake and graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1966.

On October 26, 1968, she was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Dale Jorgensen. Dale and Peggy moved to Spokane, WA, after getting married and returning to Sioux Falls after Dale’s time in the military. They became loving parents to their three children: Roxy, Brent, and Sarah. Peggy loved spending time with her children, which led her to run an in-home daycare. Later, she worked for Augustana College and retired after more than 20 years of employment. She always enjoyed cheering on the men’s and women’s basketball teams with Dale by her side.

Peggy was a devoted member of St. John American Lutheran Church and served as a Stephen Minister, Vacation Bible School and Sunday School Teacher, Chair of the Angel Foods Program, and Visitation Committee Member. Her passion for serving others led her to volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, Nightwatch Food Ministry, and serve as a mentor at Garfield Elementary. She had a special place in her heart for the elderly and served as a Patient Escort at Sanford for several years. Her compassionate spirit touched the lives of many individuals and won her Volunteer of the Month twice from Sanford.

Peggy enjoyed cooking, baking, and solving the puzzles on Wheel of Fortune. Above all, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Nothing would make her happier than to have her family gathered around her kitchen table. She was the best listener, biggest cheerleader, and the greatest joy of her family.

Grateful to have shared her life are her husband of 55 years, Dale Jorgensen; children, Roxy (Dave) Weidenbach, Brent (Kelli) Jorgensen, and Sarah Jo Jorgensen; siblings, Linda Collins, Rodell (Desi) Kretzschmar, and Pam (Kendall) Borg; sister-in-law, Judy Kretzschmar; grandchildren, Allison (Brennen) Schmitt, Mason (Grace) Weidenbach, Avery Jorgensen; numerous family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Verlin, Verdon, and Kevin; brother-in-law Bryce Collins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel. Funeral Service is Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11 AM at St. John American Lutheran Church, 1912 West 13th Sioux Falls, SD 57104. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the cause or charity of your choice.
