Delmar Ervin "Bud" Berg was born January 29, 1931 in Marion, SD to Jacob and Katie (Dick) Berg. He was the second oldest child. Bud received his education in the local area and attended Marion High School.

Shortly after high school, he began working for Standard Oil Co. in Marion, then at John Morrell's in the Lamb Department. In 1952, Bud enlisted to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, as a medic. He was Honorably Discharged in 1954. Bud returned to Sioux Falls, and one year later, was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara Stahl. Together the young couple would be blessed with three children, Dean, Jeffrey and Jennifer. Bud worked his entire career at John Morrell's. The final seventeen years, prior to his retirement in 1987, were spent as a machinist and pipe fitter. After leaving Morrell's after 38 years, Bud worked in the home construction industry. Bud was very dedicated and involved at Good Shepherd Church using his many talents building, maintaining, mowing and serving on numerous boards and committees. He was a perfectionist and a jack-of-all-trades, from carpentry to electricity to plumbing to machinist, he could do it all. Bud had built a rocking chair or rocking horse for each of his grandchildren. He had even built his own camper, that the family fondly remembers taking on many vacations. In his free time, Bud enjoyed trout fishing in the Black Hills at which ever lake the fish were biting. He also had a passion for restoring old cars, including the trophy winning 1936 Ford Coupe still sitting in the garage at home. Bud also had a love for music and sports, faithfully attending all music concerts, recitals, and sporting events his grandchildren performed in.

Those grateful for sharing Bud's life include: his wife of almost 60 years, Barbara of Sioux Falls; sons, Dean (Patti) of Sioux Falls and Jeffrey (Vicki) of Hartford, SD; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Getting of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Leo (Marilyn) Berg of Sioux Falls, SD; and sister-in-law, Francis Zuraff of Larchwood, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Bud is preceded in death by: his parents, Jacob and Katie; and three brothers, Vernald, Eldon, and Alvin.
