Ole G. Berg, 75
Ole G. Berg was born to Bennie and Lenora berg on April 23, 1927, in Dell Rapids. He grew up on the family's farm east of Dells and attended country school through the eighth grade. He then worked on the farm until he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he returned to farm east of Dell Rapids. Ole married Florence Schildhauer on March 4, 1958, in Pipestone, Minn. they made their home on the family farm east of Dell Rapids and for the last 10 years, Ole had been attempting to retire. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and the Moose Lodge in Sioux Falls.
Ole died on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Heart Hospital of South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Florence, Dell Rapids; three daughters: Judy, and her husband Mike Austad; Linda, and her husband, Phillip Eggum, Valley Springs; Nancy and her husband, David Huntimer, Brandon; his son, Gary, Dell Rapids, six grandchildren: Justin, Sarah, Alex, Samantha, Chase and Katie; his two brothers: Casper, Dell Rapids; Palmer, Garretson; and his sister, Emma Winter, Toronto.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids, with Pastor Mark Docken officiating. Interment was held at Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Casketbearers included Mike Austad, Phillip Eggum, David Huntimer, Kenneth Heinemann, Robert Crisp and Paul Liester.
