Morten Harris Rommereim was born in Pleasant Township, in 1897. He was the youngest of 13 children in the family of Andrew and Anna Dyrkollbotten Rommereim. He attended Pleasant Valley School in that area. He chose farming as his occupation and worked with his father until his marriage to Emma Narum, daughter of Hans and Elise (Odegaard) Narum. She was born in 1894 in Norway Township and attended Sundy Rural School and Canton Lutheran Normal. After Morten and Emma's marriage, his parents retired and moved to Beresford. Morten and his wife continued to farm the home place northeast of Beresford for the next 43 years. They had two children, Geraldine and Curtis. Morten was a life-long member of Romsdal Lutheran Church. He and Emma were active members of the church and served willingly in many ways, including church coun¬cil, ladies aid, Sunday school, and choir. They were also ac¬tive in many community affairs. Morten served as director of the Cooperative Service Association in Beresford for 20 years and for many years was a member of the Pleasant Valley School board. In 1964, Morten and Emma retired and moved to their new home in Beresford. Their son Curtis and family took over the farming and livestock operation. This family is the third and fourth generation to live on the original Rommereim farm since 1887. Morten died in 1969. Emma resided in an apartment in Beresford. At 80, Emma is still very active and able to care for herself and her home. She enjoys life and is interested in all activities with her family and friends.
