Edna Myrtle Nelson
(August 22, 1919 - June 23, 2011)
Edna Myrtle Nelson, age 91, of Garretson, SD, passed away on June 23, 2011 at Palisade Manor in Garretson. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church, rural Valley Springs, SD. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Monday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
Edna was born August 22, 1919 near Garretson to Albert and Agnes (Hanson) Nelson and attended Garretson High School. For many years she worked as a nanny around the Garretson area for countless families. She was an accomplished cook and loved to bake and create all kinds of goodies. Edna was a life-long member of the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church. She is survived by a brother, Rev. Vernon Nelson of Bemidji, MN; a sister, Lenore Brucklacher of Phillip, SD; an aunt, Helen Glaim of Prior Lake, MN; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph Nelson; two nieces, a nephew and a grandnephew.
