Marilyn June Sunde was born on June 24, 1932 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to parents Mel and Tillie Sunde. Marilyn played trombone in the band and was one of the privileged members who went on their four week tour, playing concerts in the west coast cities and Canada, during June of 1947.

She attended Augustana College for two years and married Harold Nelson in September of 1953. After their first three years of married life in Huron, SD they moved to Chicago in 1956. Then they moved to the Chicago suburb of Melrose Park in 1958. Marilyn returned to Sioux Falls in 1982 as a widow. Since then she has maintained an extensive writing ministry using her knowledge of God’s Word in writing poetry and numerous articles, all for publication. Marilyn had three booklets of Christian poetry and prose published, the last on being “Alone with Jesus on Life’s Journey” (2006).

Predeceased family were her parents; her husband Harold in 1975; one older brother, Willis (Margaret) Sunde, Bothell WA; one younger brother, Jon (Marilyn) Sunde of Penfield, NY; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Andersen.

HE’S EVERYTHING TO ME
-Marilyn J. Nelson
Jesus is God—He’s my Savior and Lord,
I love the treasures found in His Word.
He’s my Brother, Counselor, Shepherd and Vine,
Joy of all joys—I know He is mine.
He’s the Prince of Peace, Master and Lamb,
Light of the world and the Great I AM:
He’s the Door, the Way, the Truth and the Life,
Knowing Him puts an end to all strife.
I pray to You, Lord Jesus, “Come into my heart,
Abide with me now and never depart;
Teach me and mold me and counseled me still,
And help me always to obey your will!”
“Thou hast given me the heritage of those who fear Thy name.” Psalm 61:5
