Maxine L. Relf, 88, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Riverview Manor, Flandreau. Maxine was born on January 5, 1921 at Flandreau to Gertrude Bakkedahl Loughlin. She attended Spafford School in Flandreau. On August 21, 1940 she married Robert Relf at Pipestone, MN. They farmed until retiring into Flandreau on January 21, 1979. Robert preceded her in death on July 8, 2001. Maxine enjoyed coffee time with friends and neighbors and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, WELCA, a former member of Midway Lutheran Church and volunteered at Riverview Manor.

Maxine is survived by a son, Richard (Lillian) Relf, Egan and a daughter, Glenda (Dick) Jewett, Flandreau; 7 grandchildren, Brian Relf, Amy Hemmer, Brad Relf, Jim Relf, Dan Jewett, Mike Jewett, Lisa Drapeau; 13 great-grandchildren, Abby Hemmer, Brandon Hemmer, Brooke Relf, Baylee Relf, Noah Jewett, Paige Jewett, Brady Jewett, Michaela Jewett, Kaden Jewett, Kate Jewett, Lance Relf, Mitch Relf and Connor Relf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; a son, Larry; parents and sister, Helen Johnson.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD. Visitation will begin at 2:00PM on Tuesday with family present from 6:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
