Norvald W. Scofield, Sr., 79, Flandreau, S.D., died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Flandreau Medical Center, Flandreau.
Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Flandreau with Pastor Cori Waisanen officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Flandreau.
Norvald was born July 22, 1928 on a farm in Spring Creek Township, Moody County, S.D. to Orva and Eunice (Fisher) Scofield. He received his education at Jones Country School #60 and then started farming and trucking with his dad.
He married Betty Hennager on March 23, 1948 in Flandreau. He continued to farm and truck and also operated Scofield Sales and Service in Ward, S.D. They moved into Flandreau in 2004.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Moody County Historical Society, Farmers Union, was on the township board and was a former school board member at Jones Country School and NFO.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; seven children, Kathy (Jerry) Doyle, Flandreau; Nancy (Chris) Iott, Ward; Steve (Renae) Scofield, Flandreau; Alice (Bob) Kurtz, Elkton, S.D.; Roger (Cindy) Scofield, Flandreau; Judy (Randy) Wilts, Flandreau and Norvie (Kamie) Scofield, Flandreau; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Wiese and a brother LaMonte "Snick" Scofield, both of Flandreau.
He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy "Jim" Scofield.
