Mrs. Julius Aasen

Funeral services for Mrs. Julius Aasen, 86, were held in Dell Rapids Wednesday with the Rev. Martin Haase and John Watne officiating at the Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Aasen, who was born in Baltic, died in Dell Rapids, July 8.

Survivors include three sons, Irwin of Sioux Falls, J.J. of El Cerito, Calif., and Floyd of Dell Rapids; five daughters, Mrs. Ruby Cormier of Waterberry Conn., Mrs. Frances Shotwell of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Vivian Lehmann of Las Alomas, New Mex., Mrs. Jeanette Aus of Backerfield Calif., and Mrs. Betty Rockholm of Florissant, Miss.; one brother, Albert Almlie of Baltic; one sister, Mrs. Signorah Hinds of Albuquerque, N. Mex.; 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Aasen grew up and attended school near Baltic. She married Julius Aasen at West Nidaros, rural Crooks. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Baltic and later moved to a farm near Roslyn. In 1932 they moved to rural Minnehaha County and in 1938 they moved to Dell Rapids. Mrs. Aasen died in 1971 and one son has also preceded her in death.

Mrs. John Muller was organist along with Ron Peterson as soloist. Casket bearers Jennings Aasen, Phillip Aasen, Gorgon Aasen, Paul Hallem, Gene Gaagenson and Rene DeWitte. Ushers were Ellswoth Brown and Mient Eilers.
