Lloyd Aasen Killed In Auto Accident Saturday
Funeral services are being held this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran Church in Dell Rapids for Lloyd F. Aasen who met death in an automobile accident Saturday afternoon. Rev. A. Elmer Moe will conduct the services.
The accident occurred about 1:30 Saturday Afternoon, six miles north of Sioux Falls on highway 77. Mr. Aasen was returning to Sioux Falls from Renner where he had accompanied Royce Knutson and James McKinney, both of Sioux Falls. Apparently the car went out of control on a curve turning over in the ditch. Mr. Aasen was thrown from the car, the other men remained in the care were killed instantly. Aasen was taken to a Sioux Falls Hospital where he died later that evening.
Lloyd, 30 years of age, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Aasen of Dell Rapids. He was born at Roslyn S.D., Sept. 1, 1926, moving with is parent to Dell Rapids in 1939. He graduated from the Dell Rapids high school with the class of 1946.
He was married to Miss Arlene Bird at Portland, Oregon, December 4, 1951, later moving to Sioux Falls where they resided at 319 N. Spring Avenue.
The widow, with his parents, three brothers and five sisters survive. The brothers and sisters are, Irwin of Sioux Falls, Julius Jr., in Missouri; and Floyd, a twin, in New Hampshire; Mrs. J. Cromier in Massachusetts; Mrs. Geo. Shotwell, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Virgil Lehman, Wyoming, Mrs. Richard Aus, in Arizona, and Mrs. Glen Hockholm, in Illinois.
Burial will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
