David Alan Johnson, son of Robert L. and Betty O. (Winterton) Johnson, was born April 7, 1948 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Washington High School in 1966. He attended the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, for two years.

David returned to Sioux Falls where he worked as a purchasing agent for Lindsey Brothers Plumbing and Heating. He then worked as dispatch manager for Harold's Delivery. He later worked as warehouse manager for Commercial Flooring (now Office Interiors).

David was a member of First Lutheran Church and Ducks Unlimited. He was a former member of the Crooks Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at his trailer on Cow Creek north of Pierre, SD on the Oahe Reservoir. He was an excellent chef and enjoyed cooking with family and friends. He was a great storyteller and always had a joke to tell. In addition, he was a good friend to a great number of people.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Robert L. and Betty O. Johnson, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Diane Dumdei and her husband, Kevin, Sioux Falls, Dawn Pesicka and her husband, Bill, Sioux Falls; two nieces, Danielle Tornow, Sioux Falls, D'one Tornow, Sioux Falls; one step-niece, Brook Pesicka, Sioux Falls; two step-nephews, Jeremy Pesicka, Sioux Falls, Cody Dumdei, Bakersfield, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at First Lutheran Church immediately following the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service.
