Scotty was born on May 20, 1921 at Flandreau, SD to William and Isabella Milne Duncan. He graduated from Flandreau High School in 1939 and went to California to work in an aircraft plant. He joined the U.S. Navy on April 20, 1944 and was stationed in San Diego and Norfolk, VA. Scotty was married to Alene Othmer on April 26, 1945 at Chandler, AZ. After his discharge on February 18, 1946, they returned to Flandreau and went into business with Duncan Elevator and Transfer. He retired in 1986 and they wintered in Arizona for several years. He was a member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church, Flandreau Masonic Lodge #11 AF & AM where he was Past Master, Shriners, Brookings Elks Club, and formerly on the Flandreau Improvement Corporation Board.
Scotty is survived by his wife, Alene, Flandreau; 3 sons; Thomas and his wife, Carole; Scott and his wife, Brenda, all of Flandreau; Jason and his wife, Sharon, Oak Lawn, IL; 2 daughters; Chris Duncan and her husband Deryle, Albuquerque, NM; Ann Yonan and her husband, Emanuel, Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren, 2 brothers: William and his wife Arlene; Milne and his wife, Marie, all of Flandreau. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Gordon and Kenneth.
