John A. Hahn was born on Dec. 3, 1899 to Henry and Dorothea Hoelzer Hahn at Pawpaw, Ill. As a young boy he moved with his parents to Roswell, Miner County, South Dakota where he received his education in rural Miner County schools. He was married to Frances Voeltz on June 26, 1923 at Howard. He farmed in Roswell, Howard, Orland and Chester areas and in 1943 moved to a farm near Colman. In 1966 he moved to Sioux Falls where he has since made his home. He was a member of the Colman Lutheran Church.

He is survived by six sons, Amos, Worthing, South Dakota; John Jr., Minneapolis; Willard, Torrance, CA; Rodney, Fullerton, CA; Miles, Humboldt, South Dakota and Morty, Colman, South Dakota; four daughters, Ardis, Mrs. Clarence Christensen, Minneapolis; Delda, Mrs. Darlow Inber, San Antonio, TX; Sandra, Mrs. Jim Hanson, El Segundo, CA; Lana Hahn, Edmonds, WA; 38 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two brothers Adam and Conrad Hahn, both of Howard; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth McCain, WA; Mrs. Susie Gullickson and Mrs. Rosena Lee both of Howard. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and one sister.

Age: 81 years, 6 months, 27 days
Final Resting Place: Colman Cemetery, Colman, South Dakota
