Surrounded by his family, Keith Foster Walker, 73, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the United Living Community in Brookings, South Dakota.

Keith was born June 19, 1948, in Rumford, Maine, to Keith Jordan and Nathelene (Foster) Walker. Soon after, he moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine and was raised by his mother.

In his early years, Keith attended Holy Cross Catholic School in South Portland, Maine. Later graduating from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1966. His yearbook read... “Now try this one, heh, heh... Ambition is to reach the stars... likes reading, vacations, and that certain girl... annoyed by dull teachers and match-makers... noted for reading science fiction books and science documents and his height... often seen making smoke bombs and rockets in his cellar. Science, the new nobility! Progress, the world moves on!” After high school, he attended the University of Maine (Portland) 1966-69, majoring in Electronics Engineering.

Keith volunteered to serve in the U.S. Air Force, stationed primarily at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska, as a computer operator in the Global Weather Command from 1969-73. It was during this time that he met his wife, Vicky, at a Halloween party. They were later married on June 17, 1972 and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. After his discharge, they spent a year in Hull, Massachusetts before moving to Sioux City, Iowa and finally settling in Sioux Falls in 1982, where they raised their two children.

Throughout his life, Keith worked in various elements of data processing and Information services that included Mutual of Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska; State Street Bank, Boston, Massachusetts; Security National Bank and Postal Finance Corp., Sioux City, Iowa. In 2013, he retired from Citibank as a Senior Systems Analyst after 31 years.

Keith had a strong fascination with the space program, technology, science fiction and the paranormal that was carried throughout his life. Other interests included reading, genealogy (Mayflower Society & SAR), traveling, various collections, exploring and was a Cub Scout leader. He was also, heavily involved with the Shriners and Masonry. Keith was raised to the Third Degree of Freemasonry, March 1988. Served as Master of Minnehaha Lodge #5 (Sioux Falls) 1990-92, Master of Kadosh, Scottish Rite 1990-92, Grand Orator for the Grand Juri South Dakotaiction of South Dakota 1994-95 and Editor of the South Dakota Masonic Research Lodge newsletter (nation-wide distribution) 1994-2004.

Keith is survived by his wife Vicky (Hasvold) Walker; son James Walker; daughter Tracy (Jason) Appl; grandchildren Carson, Leah, Madelyn and Hailey Appl all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Keith's life will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 beginning with visitation at 9:00am and the funeral service at 10:00am. Located at Miller Funeral Home-Westside 6200 West 41st Street. Burial to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery
