John Leuning
John Leuning, 85, Dell Rapids, died Sunay, Nove. 27, 1994, at the Dell Rapids Community Hospital.
John Leuning was born Nov. 16, 1909, on a farm near Dell Raids, the son of Henry and Etta Leuning.
He was raised on a farm near Dell Rapids and attended rural school. ON April 7, 1935, he was married to Judith Johnson in rural Trent. They farmed near Dell Rapids until 1948. They moved to a farm near Jasper, Minn., before moving to Dell Rapid sin 1970 where Joh lived until his death.
He was past president of the Farmer’s Union, a life-time member od the Reformed Church, sexton of the Reformed Cemetery for many years, served on the rural school and township boards for many years and was a seed corn dealer for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Judith, Dell Rapids; two sons” LaWayne and his wife, Audrey, Jasper, Minn., and Lauren and his wife, Barbara, Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter: Mrs. Gerald (Gwendolyn) Jaycox, Pipestone, Minn.; nine grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Mable Hofkamp and Mrs. Violet Alberts, both of Dell Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today), Nov. 30, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the Reformed Church, Dell Rapids, with Pastor Frank Boerema officiating. The organist is Edna Sieps and the soloist is Pastor Harvy Leuning. A prayer service was held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Kahler Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
Casketbearers are Dennis Leuning, Dean Jaycox, Doug Jaycox, Tom Hutchenson, Ivan Van Essen, Marlyn DeBates, Jay Nebben and Joe Morin. Honorary casketbearers are Heidi Leuning, Wendy Morin, Denice Koehne, Marcia Leuning, Jody Hutchenson, Diane Van Essen and Teresa Jaycox. Interment will be held at the Reformed Church Cemetery.
Kahler Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
