To Lingering Illness

Following a lingering illness Mrs. J.F. Landers died at her home ten miles northwest of Dell Rapids on Monday, March 29th at 8:00 o'clock. She had been ill for two and one-half years.

Julia Bowen was born 65 years ago, in Potosi, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bowen. At the age of five she came wither parents to South Dakota, first living at Sioux Falls and later they moved to a farm near Dell Rapids where she grew to womanhood.

On November 26th, 1893, Mr. and Mrs. Landers were married. They lived for a while in California and in the Black Hills, after which they returned to Dell Rapids to live and here Mr. Landers operated a livery barn. Thirty –three years ago last April they moved to the farm which has since been their home.

Mrs. Landers was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mrs. Alton Willard of Colton and two brothers, John Bowen and Sylvester Bowen. Besides her husband she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Zentgraft of Minneapolis; Mrs. R.A. Baumberger of Huntimer; and four brothers, Henry, Chenny, Wash.; Gustus Bowen, Mora, Wis.; and Albert and Adelbert, twin brothers.

Funeral services were conducted in Saint Mary's church on Thursday morning.
