Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs. B. J. Winjum

Funeral services were held on Monday of this week for Mrs. B.J. Winjum who passed away on Friday, October 4th at the age of 84 years, 2 weeks and 10 days. Services were held from the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. Edwin Bersagel officiating. Interment was on the family lot in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Inger J. Winjum, daughter of John C. and Ellen Hermanson was born near Lake Mills, Iowa, July 25, 1873. She came to Dakota with her parents and other early pioneer families in a covered wagon, locating in Edison Township. She was confirmed in the Norway Lutheran Church and grew to womanhood in that community. On September 26, 1894 she was united in marriage to Butler J. Winjum in the Norway Church. They observed their 63rd wedding anniversary just a few days ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Winjum moved to Dell Rapids where Mr. Winjum was employed by the Dieson department store, and they have made this their home these many years, with exception of a few years when they lived at Lemmon, S.D. where Mr. Winjum operated a clothing store. Upon returning here they operated a general store until their retirement.

They are the parents of one son, Elmer, who died in 1919. Mrs. Winjum is survived by her husband, two sisters, Mrs. A.J. Andrews of Minneapolis and Mrs. Clarence Schugart, Sioux City, also a brother, I.T. Hermanson of St. Cloud, Minnesota. There are also a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends who will cherish her memory as a kind Christian woman.

Those from away attending last rites were her sisters, Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Schugart; Mr. and Mrs. M.V. Medin, Sioux City; nephews and nieces from Spring Grove, Minnesota, Herman Bergsrude, Morris Bergrude, Julius Winjum, Bertha Winjum and Mrs. G. Winjum.
