Doris E. Dailey, 76, Flandreau, S.D., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the Flandreau Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 23 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with Rev. Dr. Mary A. Sacco officiating.
Interment was in Union Cemetery, Flandreau.
Doris was born April 28, 1928 at Flandreau to Creston and Dorothy (Weigel) Waxdahl. She was raised on the Waxdahl homestead in Grovena Township in Moody County. She attended Sunny Hill Country School and then graduated from Egan High School in 1946. She attended South Dakota State University and Augustana College. She worked at the Moody County Extension Office and then the Farmers State Bank in Flandreau.
She married Lloyd Dailey on Oct. 16, 1955 at Flandreau. They farmed on the Dailey homestead in Lone Rock Township in Moody County. They retired from farming in 1981 and the couple moved to Flandreau in 1989. Her husband, Lloyd, died Sept. 15, 2000.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau, WELCA, Flandreau Hospital Auxiliary, Bread Basket board member and Trent American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Clark (Katie), Woodbury and Keith and his fiancé, Karla Ykema, Flandreau; two daughters, Diane, Dell Rapids, S.D. and Miriam, Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Schroeder, Flandreau; a brother-in-law, Gordon (JoAnn) Dailey, Flandreau; a sister-in-law, Doris O'Leary, Springfield; special friends, Helen Dailey, Steve and Eda Mae Hasek, the Breakfast Gals and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, daughter-in-law, Sherry; and brother-in-law, Virtus.
