James "Dean" Hayes
September 1, 1936 - June 15, 2024
James “Dean” Hayes, 87, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Avantara Norton in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2024, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2024, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
James Hayes, son of Emil and Syble (Hayes) Dump, was born September 1, 1936, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He graduated from Washington High School in 1954. He was united in marriage to Clara Oltmans on August 13, 1963, in Worthington,
Minnesota. Through his working career he dedicated over 30 years to John Morrell and Company. During this time, he also served his country in the South Dakota Air National Guard. Dean retired as a Master Sergeant after over 25 years of dedicated
service. Dean and his brothers, Bill and Tom owned the Valley View Mobile Home Park in Sioux Falls. Dean eventually became the sole proprietor and retired from that venture in 1984. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and attending any and all activities that his grandchildren were involved in.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Laine “Lanny” Hayes and his wife, Kelley of Sioux Falls and Jeff Hayes of Escondido, CA; grandchildren, Dustin Hayes of San Diego, CA, Ashlee (Nick) Miller of Farmington, NM, Hunter Hayes of Sioux Falls, and A.J. (Stephanie Just) Suess of East Troy, WI; sister, Sandra Aichle of Sioux Falls; sister-in-law, Shirley Hayes of Sioux Falls; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Syble; wife, Clara; and brothers, Robin, Jerry, Bill, and Tom
