Shirley Ridpath

Shirley Ridpath, 87, of Toledo, IA passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown, IA. Cremation rights have been accorded at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

Shirley was born on Nov 14,1934 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Robert and Myrtle Bruce. Shirley stepped into heaven on the evening of Dec 13,2021 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Shirley is survived by her loving husband Ronald with whom she was married for 67 years. She is also survived by a daughter Lori Ann Ridpath, and a son Bruce John Ridpath, and a daughter in law, Lisa Ann Ridpath. Shirley is survived by two grandchildren, Alicia Nicole Ridpath, and Nathan Andrew Ridpath. Shirley is also survived by two siblings, Sharon Theulen and Robert Bruce.

Shirley and Ronald had a wonderful marriage and were each other’s best friend.
Shirley was a loving wife and mother who was known for her kindness to many. She knew about everyone in several different counties as she worked for the courthouses in the different towns that she lived in. And she had great and funny stories about many that she met there.

She was also a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and supported the various churches in the different towns she lived in over the years.

Shirley was recognized by her abundant laughter! She was always fun, and you could locate her in a crowd by her laugh! She loved her families and friends and was a good and faithful friend to many.

Shirley and Ron were grateful for all the help they received these past few years, from their daughter Lori, who has helped them in many loving and practical ways.
Shirley was probably Iowa’s biggest Hawkeye fan and loved and supported them for many years. It was always so much fun to watch a game with her and her voice was always heard, so much so that Ronald would sometimes say, “Shirley you must calm down!”

We are grateful for the life of this dear loving wife and mother and grandmother and sister and friend. Though we grieve now as we miss her, we look forward to when we will see her again in heaven.
