Martha Hofer age 82, of Sioux Falls, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015. Funeral Services will be held 10:30AM Friday, June 26, 2015 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. The family will be present to greet friends for visitation from 5PM to 7PM on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at George Boom Funeral Home. Martha Ann (Easley) was born April 21, 1933 in Tolu, Kentucky. She married Obed Hofer on December 31, 1953, while he served in the Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky. They moved to South Dakota after the Korean War ended and had four children; Rick, Laura Lee, Rob, and Mike. Martha was a devoted wife who enjoyed raising and spoiling her kids with love and attention. A homemaker through and through, Martha was known for her well-kept home and her talents for cooking and baking. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many many years and also sang in the choir. In the early 1980's Martha went back to school to earn her GED so she could work for the Sioux Falls School District teaching young kids with learning disabilities at Hawthorn Elementary School where she enjoyed it for 19 years. Martha also enjoyed having a close set of friends that her and Obed enjoyed many weekends playing bridge, camping, or attending many Friday night sporting events. She cherished each and every one of her friends. Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Robert Hofer, Sioux Falls, and his two children, Haley and Jordan; Michael Hofer (Sheri Crane), Tea, SD and their three children, Justin, Lexi, and Landry; daughter-in-law, Lori Hofer (Moon), and her children Ellie and Alex. She is preceded in death by daughter, Laura Lee, who died shortly after birth, and son Rick in 1997.
