Mrs. Susanah Payne
Flandreau, S.D. – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church For Mrs. Susanah Payne, 94, who died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Wilkins, after a brief illness.
Susanah Alen was born March 26, 1877, in Rushmore, Minn. She came to Dakota Territory in 1888 with her parents and attended rural schools. On Nov. 22, 1898, she was married to Albert Payne in Flandreau. The couple moved to Nebraska where they homesteaded in 1902. They then returned to Flandreau for 32 years before moving to a farm in 1934. Mr. Payne died in 1942.
Survivors besides the daughter include a son, Roy, Flandreau; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
