Robert E. Wright
May 05, 1926 - December 16, 2015
Robert E. “Bob” Wright, 89, of Sioux Falls, SD died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. His funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, December 19 at Wild Flower Presbyterian Church, Sioux Falls, with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Friday, December 18 at George Boom Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Robert Edward Wright, son of Robert Andrew Wright and Hildur (Johnson) Wright, was born May 5, 1926 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up and received his education there.
Robert entered the U.S. Army in June of 1944 and served in Japan during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in November of 1946, he returned to Sioux Falls.
Robert worked for a time in a rendering plant and at John Morrell and Company. He then began his career as a plasterer. Robert worked both locally and in surrounding states for various contractors, mostly with the Halde Plastering and Johnson Plastering Companies. His trade took him to Hawaii and Cuba. Robert retired in 1989, but he still enjoyed using a trowel, even in retirement.
Robert was united in marriage with Roberta Fulton on June 11, 1960 in Luverne, MN. The couple made their home and raised their family in Sioux Falls.
Robert enjoyed fishing, playing cards, putting together jigsaw puzzles, tinkering in the garage and going to casinos. In addition, he was a fan of both the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings.
Grateful for having shared his life are two daughters, Vicki Campbell, Sioux Falls, SD, Sherri "Sissy" Donaldson and her husband, Tom, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Nichole Stoll and her husband, Todd, Rebecca Donaldson, Jackie Donaldson and Kathy Donaldson, all of Sioux Falls, SD; and two great-grandchildren, Rylie Stoll and Harlow Donaldson. He was also survived by two daughters, Patty Brandt and Pam Ganser, both of Sioux Falls, SD.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, on March 25, 2013; his parents, Robert and Hildur; and a sister, Helen Nelson.
