Elizabeth T. Jensen
June 18, 1924 - February 26, 2019
Elizabeth Theresa (Bette) Jensen, age 94, died February 26, 2019 at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls. She was born Elizabeth T. Woolf on June 18, 1924 in Stoughton, WI. to William Woolf and Amanda Woolf (Wiese). She had two brothers, Lawrence Woolf and Giles Woolf, who preceded Bette in death, as well as one sister, Louise Woolf, who died in infancy.
Bette grew up in Stoughton and met Howard Jensen in 1942 when he was on leave from the US Army Air Force. On July 4, 1945, Bette married Howard in Stoughton, where their first daughter, Sheryl Ann, was born in 1947. They moved to Temperance, MI in 1949, and their second daughter, Jacqueline Jill, was born that year. Twin sons, David Arthur and Mark William, were born in 1950, with infant Mark dying at 5 weeks of age. Son, Gary Wayne, was born in 1952. The family moved to Grand Junction, Co and in 1954, son Paul Eric was born. In the spring of 1956, the family then moved to Los Alamos, NM where they lived until 1963 when they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Prior to her retirement in 1991, Bette worked for 25 years at the Good Samaritan Central Office as Insurance Coordinator. In 2012 Bette and Howard moved to Dow Rummel Village.
Bette is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Howard Jensen; and her children, Sherri Ellis (Ken), Everett, WA; Jacquie Arnott (Neil), Fort Walton Beach, FL; Dave Jensen, Sioux Falls, SD; Gary Jensen, Hamilton, MT; and Paul Jensen (Jean) of Winner, SD. Bette’s grandchildren are Jeremy, Christopher, Nathan, Kristen, Matthew, Anna, and Wren. Her great-grandchildren are Judah, Harrison, Noah, Valentino, Cerv, and Nikoli. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Jensen of Sedona, AZ and nieces, Karen, Terry, Jamie, Betsy, Caycie, Theresa and Thea and nephews, Robert, Steve, and Ashley.
A service celebrating Bette’s life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019, at 11 am, in the Dow Rummel’s Halladay-Peterson Chapel, with visitation ½ hour prior. Interment will be at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
