Leah was born on a farm near Egan on April 25, 1898 to Nels and Rosina Miller Waxdahl. She received her early education in county school and then went to Egan and Flandreau high school. She then attended Aberdeen Normal after which she taught county school until her marriage to Harold W. Keating on March 23, 1921 in Flandreau. (He died June 29, 1968). They then farmed near Egan until they bought a farm three miles southeast of Flandreau in 1926. She lived there until 1977 when she moved into Flandreau where she continued to make her home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the UMW, a member of the Square Deal Club for many years and a member of the Town and Country club.

She is survived by two sons, Randall, Flandreau and Harvey, Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Louise, Mrs. Ralph Stuedeman, Flandreau; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one brother, Glenn Waxdahl, Flandreau. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and three sisters.
