Anna Marie Miles was born on a farm near Worthing, SD on Aug. 20, 1914, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Wiesenbach) Miles. She grew up near Worthing where she attended Hill rural school and then Bennett rural school near Lennox. On Oct. 4, 1933 she was united in marriage to Bernet J. Nelson at Worthing. They farmed in the Worthing and Chancellor areas and moved into Worthing in 1945. Marie was a cook and was employed at The Normandy in Sioux Falls for several years. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1988. She continued to make her home in Worthing and, after suffering a stroke, became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on June 6, 1995. Marie was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Worthing and the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #628 in Sioux Falls. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene Jacobs, on Nov. 22, 1991; six brothers: Edward, Clarence, Bernard, Alfred, Arthur Floyd, and Duane Miles and one sister, Dorothy, in infancy. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Donald D. Nelson of Sioux Falls; her daughter, Audrey Abbott of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother: Harold Miles and his wife, Sylvia, of Sioux Falls; plus several nieces and nephews.
