Dena Fischer was born on a farm near Worthing SD on Sep 22, 1901, daughter of Harm M. & Maggie (Geersema) Hyronimus. She attended Lincoln Center Rural School and grew up in that community. Dena married Henry W. Fischer on Nov. 8, 1924 at Delaware parsonage, rural Lennox. They farmed south of Worthing and in 1959 retired and moved to acreage north of Worthing. They moved to Bethesda Nursing Home Oct. 1, 1987. Her death ended marriage of nearly 68 years. Preceded in death by daughter Joyce Symens on Nov. 3, 1982; two brothers: Harm Hyronimus and Heiko; two sisters: Gertie Knock and her twin sister, Lena Henke. Following a short illness and hospitalization of four days, Dena died at Sioux Valley Hospital on Tues., Nov. 3, 1992. Her was 91 years, 1 mo. and 11 days old. Surivors: widow Henry at Bethesda; son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Mary Fischer of Aitkin, MN; her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and LeRoy Hovrud of Lennox; her son-in-law Bill Symens of Lennox; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother: John Hyronimus of Lennox and one sister, Mrs. Grace Fischer of Lennox.
