Karl and Marie came to the USA from Germany and settled in Ida Grove, Iowa on Aug. 2, 1892. Karl served in the army in Ulm Germany. Worked for a while - he with farm work and she at a hospital. Karl married Marie S. Schietinger on Mar. 11, 1893 in Ida Grove, IA. Henry W., Marie Karoline, Sophie Marie and Carl were born to this union. They bought a farm in the Ida Grove, Cushing Iowa area. Karl lived in US for five years then became a US citizen on Jan. 29-1896. Farmed in Iowa until 1905 when they sold their farm for $13,000 and moved to Popular Creek area near Olds, Alberta Canada. After four years they moved to the Worthing SD area where they bought the Knute Nelson farm in 1909. Attended church in Worthing. When that disbanded they attended Delaware Church south of Lennox. Karl had a brother Will and sister Karoline Haderer who both lived in Alberta Canada, also a sister Sophie Fischer and mother who lived at Riverside California. Marie died at 58 years of age Dec. 20-1927. Karl died at Nurtingen Germany while on a visit there in 1930, 64 years of age. Both are buried in the Worthing cemetery. Marie had a brother Gottlieb Schietinger who married Ellen Johnson and lived in the Lennox area.

The remains of Karl H. Fischer exhumed from a grave in Germany, arrived at his home SE of Lennox on Monday for burial in the land of his adoption. Mr. Fischer went to Germany last June to spend a few months visiting with relatives and friends and while there contracted inflammatory rheumatism which affected his heart and he passed away after a two weeks' illness at Nuetingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. He died in the same house in which he was born. Relatives in Germany at once arranged for his funeral and burial. Three hours after the body was interred a cablegram came from the children in this country that he wanted to be buried beside his wife in the cemetery at Worthing.
