Pioneer dies Sat.

William Henry Crisp died Saturday, Aug. 16, at the age of 85, a life-long resident of this community He was born Jan. 5, 1873 in Marshal, Wis. When he was three months old his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crisp, came to Logan Township in Dakota Territory with a covered wagon caravan which included the Crisp, Hart and Wood families. Mr. Crisp was the last survivor of its members. In 1895 he married Barbara Rae of Jasper, Minn. He farmed unit 1926 when he moved to Dell Rapids He is survived by his widow; his sons, Maurice and Walter of Dell Rapids, Henry of Lake Andes; a daughter, Mrs. William Schwenk (Dorothy) of Yankton; a brother, John, of San Fernando, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Church with the Rev. Glenn Hammerlee officiating and Hermanson in charge. Burial was in the Del Rapids cemetery. Pallbearers were: Duane Crisp, Raymond Crisp, Annen Anderson, Gerald Crisp, Stuart Crisp and Cecil Olson. Honorary pallbearers included: Lars Dalsgaard, Fred Daugaard, Peter Grav, James Norgaard, S.O. Simenson, J.N. Jensen, Ben Dieson and Ray Wood.
