John 1915 - 1990
Clarice 1918 - 2004
John Yttreness was the youngest son of John and Mollie Johnson Yttreness and was born in 1915. He had three brothers, Joseph, Justus and Harold, an older sister, Hazel, and a younger sister, Helen. He attended Pleasant Valley School located across the road from the farm on which he lived. John graduated from Beresford High School and at¬tended Augustana College for a time. He farmed for his father and after the parents retired to Beresford took over the farming. On May 4, 1941 John was married to Clarice Stoen who lived south of Beresford in the Roseni community. She was a school teacher who had gone to Beresford High School and Southern State Normal School at Springfield. She was born July 4, 1918 to Chris and Laura Stoen. John and Clarice are the parents of four daughters, Karen, Kristi, Sandra & Joni Lee. They attended the same schools, grade & high school as their father did. The family were members of Romsdal Lutheran, the children were the fourth generation in attendance there. (Source: The History of Lincoln County, SD 1985, page 775)
