Werner Fredrick Wilhelm Lenth was born on August 17, 1910 near Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the son of Louis and Mary Lenth. He grew up ona farm near Dell Rapids and attended county school. He armed with his family after he finished his education.

Werner married Dorothy Overvaag on March 4, 1941 in Dell Rapids. They made their home on a farm northwest of Dell Rapids. In 1974, they retired and moved into town.

Werner died on Wednesday October 1, 1997 at Sioux Falley Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was 87. He was preceded in death by his parents one daughter, Betty Louise, two sisters, Lily and Erna, and two brothers, Herbert and Louis.

Werner was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and the Dell Rapids Senior Citizens Center.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dorothy of Dell Rapids; his two sons, Richard and his wife Rene of Colman and David and his wife Lois of Dell Rapids; his daughter, Mrs. Sharon Carlson and her husband, Dan of Madison; and his eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids on Sunday, Oct. 4, 1997, with Pastors Mark Docken and Mark Jensen officiating. Tim Schreck was organist; Chris Thue was soloist.

Casketbearers were Kenneth Anderson, Mike Hustoft, Don Keena, Irwin Nelson, John Nelson and Duane Overvaag. Interment was at Stodahl Cemetery rural Dell Rapids.
