Dell Rapids – Jennie O. Erickson, 95, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 1995, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Dell Rapids.

Jennie Otterness was born March 19, 1899, near Sherman. She grew up and attended school near Sherman, and later graduated from Augustana Norman School in 1919. She taught school for three years.

She married Robert O. Erickson on Oct. 28, 1922, in Dell Rapids. He died in 1988. They made their home on a farm east of Trent. They later moved to Dell Rapids in 1976, and she moved to the I.O.O.F. Home in 1992.

She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church east of Trent, where she was active in Ladies Aid and Sunday school. More recently she had been a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids, and was an election volunteer in Blinsman Township.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Milton (Adelia) Merry of Dell Rapids; two grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jens Otterness of Garretson.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids, with burial at Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at Kahler Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
