Anthony Dominic "Tony" Mastel, 63, died of cancer Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at his home in Canton. He was born April 5, 1936, in Ipswich, SD. He attended Holy Cross Catholic School and Ipswich High School, graduating in 1955. He married Darlene F. Anthony Owens on Sept. 24, 1959, in Ipswich. The couple lived in Sioux Falls for one year before moving to Canton. He worked as a truck driver at the Canton Tile Plant for 10 years. He later worked for Amoco as a bulk driver for 14 years and Midwest Coast Transport Inc. for 10 years. He was member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Canton. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; four daughters: Edith McKenzie of Burke, Janet Morris of Cheyenne, Wyo., Paula Mastel of Sioux Falls and Antonette Swier of Rapid City; eight grandchildren; two brothers: Leo of Seward, Neb. and Ronald of Aberdeen; and two sisters Josephine Bauer of Edina, Minn., and Mary Lou Weber of Aberdeen.
