Charles E. "Eddie" Turner was born Oct. 2, 1909 to Mr. and Mrs. John Turner in Iowa. He moved with his parents to South Dakota as a child. He lived in Madison, Sioux Falls and later moved to Dell Rapids, where he lived until the time of his death. He married Mabel Tystad on June 25, 1938 in Sioux Falls. He worked as a carpenter most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Mable of Dell Rapids, on son Charles of Pierre, three daughters, Mrs. Janet Mielitz of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Rosemary West of Cottage Grove, MN, Paula of Dell Rapids, eight grandchildren, two brothers Kenneth of Sioux Falls, Leonard of California, six sisters, Mrs. Julia Smith, Oklahoma, Mrs. Bessie Martinson of California, Mrs. Ethel Hemblee of California, Mrs. Mabel Thompson of Arizona, Mrs. Dorthey Thompson of California, and Mrs. Hazel Paa of Sioux Falls.

Funeral services of Mr. Turner were held Friday, Dec. 14, 1979 at the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. with Reverends Martin Haase and John Watne officiating. The organist was Mrs. John Muller and soloist was Ron Peterson. Casketbearers were Meint Eilers, Joe Flamo, Milton Merry, Edwin Ottoson, Jim Gunderson, and Harold Williamson.

The Hermanson – Kahler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Mr. Turner died Dec. 11 at his home in Dell Rapids.
