Funeral Services Held for Mrs. T.C. Pedersen Tuesday
Services for Mrs. T.C. Pedersen, 55, who died Tuesday, March 23, at the Dell Rapids Hospital, were conducted Tuesday of this week, at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 at the Lutheran church. Rev. Ole M. Odland officiated and Hermanson's funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Odland presided at the organ and also sang Mrs. Pedersen's favorite hymns, "Nearer My God To Thee", "In the Garden" and a Scandinavian favorite, "Den Store Hvide Flok."
Active pallbearers were Harvey Blow, John Larson, Fred Henrich, Martin Daugaard, Ben Vorthem and Ross Randall. Honorary pall bearers included James Nesby, Elmer Brown, Matt Wolles, John Welbig, Robert Omen and Adam Schrier.
The deceased was born Elizabeth Mariane Svendsen, in Balum, Denmark, May 24, 1892. She was baptized by Rev. Paul Bristefeld in Balum in 1893 and confirmed in the Lutheran church there in 1906. In September, 1912, she came to Inwood, Iowa, where she had friends and the following year she married Thomas C. Pedeersen, September 10 at Sioux Falls. The couple have resided on their farm six miles west of Dell Rapids ever since.
Home and family were Mrs. Pedersen's foremost interests and she spared neither hard work nor sacrifices to provide opportunities for her children. Their achievements are a tribute to her and were her joy and pride. Her neighbors and friends will remember her for her cheerfulness and her ever ready smile.
Survivors are the widower; her sons Major Anker C. Pederson, U.S. Army, in Korea; Arlo, student a the State University; her daughters, Margaret, art supervisor in the Mitchell schools and Edith, secretary to the American Ambassador in Norway; also eight brothers and sisters, all in Denmark, except Holger Svendsen of this community. One child died in infancy.
Major Pedersen flew here form Korea for the services and Edith also came by plane from Norway.
Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen had been looking forward to a trip back to their old home in Denmark this summer. They secured their passports and had expected to sail within a few weeks.
Out of town friends and relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chris Swanson, Kenosha, Wisc.; Mrs. Jin Grav, Milwaukee, Wisc.; Mrs. And Mrs. Walter Dean, Northfield, Minn.; Conrad Hoff, Mankato, Minn.; Miss Stella B. Daugaard, Sioux Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Simon Peterson of Tracy, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson, Tracy, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald DeWitter, Tracy, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Newman, Wood Lake, Minn., Mrs. Valborg Frerk and Albert Cropley, Sioux Falls, Iowa.
