Ole K. Nesby died at four o'clock Tuesday morning, of cancer of the stomach.
Deceased was born in Denmark Feb. 2nd, 1873, and in 1889 he came to this country with his brother, P.M. coming direct to Dell Rapids, where their older brother, Andrew J. had preceded them. He lived here until 1905, when in November of that year he was married and went to Wisconsin to work a farm for Geo. L. Wood. He lived in Wisconsin until he moved to Dell Rapids in August 1913. The following February his wife died of tuberculosis, she having been an invalid for some time. In the spring, complying with a request made by his wife before she passed away, he took his two children, a daughter now 9 years old and a son 6, to Norway, to be cared for by his wife's parents. He returned here in the summer, and has since resided here, following his trade of painter most of the time. But his health was poor when he came here from Wisconsin, and during the past year it kept failing, and a few weeks ago it became certain that his trouble was cancer of the stomach, and no help possible. From this time he rapidly declined until the end came.
He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers in this country, Andrew J. and Peter M., of Dell Rapids, and J.K., of Sheldon, Iowa, his aged mother, one brother and two sisters in Denmark, and his two children in Norway, and a wide circle of friends who knew him here, and esteemed him for his many good qualities.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge here, and the members attended the funeral in a body, and conducted the ceremony at the grave.
The funeral was held Wednesday at two o'clock at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Larsen, of the Danish Baptist Church, conducting the service, assisted by RE. Bergsaker, of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, who spoke in Norwegian.
Despite the cold the attendance well attested the esteem in which the deceased was held.

Death of Mrs. Ole Nesby
On Saturday afternoon at four o'clock the death of Mrs. Nesby occurred at her home in this city. For months she had patiently suffered and her beautiful death bore testimony to her unfaltering trust and faith in her God. Her dying message was "Speak not of me, but tell the wonderful grace of goodness of Him who has been constantly with me during the weary months of suffering." Six months ago the family moved back to Dell rapids, where they had formerly resided for a short time, and since that time she has been confined to the house, making few new acquaintances. She was a quiet, unassuming woman, finding her greatest happiness in her home, serving the God she loved and faithfully performing her duties to her family and friends. Her loss in indeed great, but her influence will live and the memory of her short life will be an inspiration and help to those who knew her best.
Mrs. Ole Nesby (whose maiden name was Miss Gusta Marie Holthe) was born in Vardo, one of the most northern cities of Norway, the 11 day of August, 1881. At the age of five years she emigrated from her native country with her parents and sisters and brother and came to Sharon, Wis., where the family settled. Soon after they had come to America the mother died, also two sisters, and therefore the rest of the family resided for six years and where she remained only about two years in Wisconsin, when they decided to return to their native country again. They settled in the City of Tromso, where she lived with her father until she was twenty-three years old.
Again she left her old home, this time alone, to return to Sharon, Wis., in 1903. She came to Dell Rapids in 1905, and on the 11th day of November, 1905, she was married to Mr. Ole Nesby. Immediately after the marriage they moved to Lake Mills, Wis., where they lived for two years. Then they moved to Hartford, Wis., where they retook sick. They came back to Dell Rapids six months ago and she has been compelled to keep her bed the last five months and died the 14th day of February, 1914, at 4 o'clock, tuberculosis being the cause of her death. She was at her death 32 years, 7 months and 3 days old.
A daughter, Edna Augusta, passed to the Great Beyond before her at the age of thirteen months. She leaves to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and kind mother a husband and two children, Marie seven years old and Howard four years old, also a father and a step-mother, a sister and a brother in Norway. Mrs. Nesby was a devoted Christian woman, and our loss is her gain. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Bergsake, interment being in the city cemetery.
