Hartford - Florene Boelsen, 90, died Wed, June 23, 2010 at the family farm where she was born 90 yrs and one day ago.
Florene Levasseur was born June 22, 1920 near Hartford, SD to Julius and Louisa (Schlieman) Levasseur. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1938 and attended the SD Beauty Academy from which she graduated in 1940. Throughout the years, Florene owned and operated her own beauty shops.
On May 25, 1941, she was united in marriage with Robert Boelsen at the Colton Methodist Church and made their home in Sioux Falls. Her husband preceded her in death in 1954. In 2003 she moved to Hartford to be closer to family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Yolanda (Michael) Lickteig of rural Hartford, SD and Judy Kimmons of Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren and her nephew Charles Levasseur. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ione Levasseur and Leoma Even; and two brothers, Martin Levasseur and LeRoy Levasseur.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. Interment will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5:00 to 6:30 pm Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Ave location.
