Sioux Falls – Bertina "Betty" O. Eggers, 92, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM Monday, August 31, 2009 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with the family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at George Boom Funeral Home. Burial will be 3:30 PM Tuesday in East Nidaros Cemetery, rural Baltic, SD.
Bertina "Betty" Ovida Volden, the daughter of Olymph and Gertrude (Lassessen) Volden was born June 21, 1917 in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from Washington High School and attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls.
On October 8, 1938, Betty was united in marriage with Clifford F. Eggers in Canton, SD. She worked in various retail stores, including long service at Fantle's and Jean's Department Stores.
Betty was a member of First Lutheran Church. She also served on the Board of Director's for the Good Samaritan Center for many, many years.
Grateful for having shared her life are two brothers, Orrin Volden of Sioux Falls, Robert Volden of St. Paul, MN; a sister, Esther Geretz of Los Angeles, CA; two grandsons, Ryan and Reid; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; two sons, Clifford Jr. "Biff", and Robbin; a brother, Gordon; and a sister, Thelma Mickadeit.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to the Good Samaritan Luther Manor.
