Funeral of Mrs. A.E. Willard Held at Colton
The following account of the death and burial of Mrs. A.E. Willard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bowen, is taken from last's week's Colton Courier:
Mrs. Alton E. Willard, who passed away at the Sioux Valley Hospital, in Sioux Falls on August 9th, was born June 26th, 1876, in this county about ten miles north of Sioux Falls. She grew to womanhood on the Bowen farm about five miles north and east of Colton.
She had been confined to the hospital since the auto accident which happened near Crooks on July 21st, and apparently was getting along well, and her sudden death was a shock to all.
The deceased was united in marriage to Alton E. Willard in May, 190. To them three children were born, a daughter, Mrs. C. Quickstad of Watertown, and two sons who reside at home.
Besides her husband and children she is survived by her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bowen of Dell Rapids, six brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends and realtives.
Mrs. Willard was a quiet unassuming person who diligently attended to her duties as wife, a mother, a good friend and neighbor, and will be missed by many especially her near and dear ones.
The funeral, largely attended, was held last Friday and burial was made in the Colton Cemetery.
